Your 2010-2011 Steering Team
Your Steering Team is here to serve you, come along side you, encourage you, be a listening ear, celebrate with you, and be your friend. We care about you and know that being a mother is one of the most difficult jobs there will ever be. We share in those joys, heart aches, challenges, and questions with you. You are not alone. We understand. We are Mothers of Preschoolers!
| | Page Boyd (Coordinator) Howdy! I am a wife, a mom, an Aggie, a disciple of Christ, a friend, a daughter, a School Psychologist, and the list goes on. I wear many different hats, as many of you do, and needed a place to find support as I travel down this wild and crazy road called "Motherhood"! MOPS has been that place for me for the past 3 years. I am so thankful for MOPS, for the friendships, and for all the support and encouragement provided by the wonderful mentors and leadership. After receiving so much from MOPS, I decided to give back this year by serving on the Steering Team as the Coordinator. As I said earlier, I am a wife of a wonderful husband and a mother of three small little girls ages 5, 3, and 2! I am expecting my fourth child, a boy, in October of this year, thus making our lives even more complex. MOPS has been such a blessing in my crazy life and I am excited about the adventures the 2010/2011 year of MOPS will bring! Email:

| | | Kristi Brokaw (Assistant Coordinator) My first experience with Highland MOPS was when I was asked by my (then) boyfriend's cousin to fill in as a Moppets worker when I was eighteen years old. When I saw all of the moms coming in with their strollers and greeting each other with such excitement, I filed it away in my brain to pull out when I became a mom. Jon and I have been married for six years and we have one son, Benjamin who is sixteen months old. When I was struggling with the loneliness of being home alone with a baby all day everyday, I remembered MOPS and looked it up online while he slept in my arms. I was greeted with such warmth and felt so at home with the women I met. I have loved everything about MOPS--fellowship, playdates, wonderful speakers who spoke straight to my heart, mentors who prayed, and food! I am so excited to be giving back to something that has given me so much by serving as the assistant coordinator this year. Email:

| | | Nicole Seaman (Creative Activities) I’m a girl married to a cute boy in uniform. Together, Cody and I have been blessed with two beautiful little girls, Macie, who will be three in October and Charlie, who will be two in January. In August of 2007, I was almost seven months pregnant when we moved to Abilene. Unfamiliar with Abilene, a stay-at-home mom with only a belly to care for, hotel-fever and knowing only a few people, I spent my first month in town exploring the local area and shops! While browsing a local boutique, I met one of the MOPS mentors, Ann Griggs. Ann noticed my pregnant belly and wanted to make sure that I was aware of MOPS. I had never heard of MOPS; however, after sweet Ann had encouraged me to check MOPS out, I knew that I wanted to be a part of the fun! I was late to my first ever MOPS meeting; I’m so thankful that I didn’t turn around and go back to the hotel because I was running behind. On that first September meeting, I met so many other moms who are now precious friends. I’m incredibly thankful for MOPS, for the friendship, support and encouragement that the mentors, leadership, and other MOPS Moms provide as they help us become better Christians, wives and mothers! This will be my fourth in MOPS and I am delighted to be serving as your Creative Activities Coordinator, designing projects and activities to be completed during our MOPS meetings! Email:

| | | Lauren Blasingame (Hospitality) I am a (mostly) stay at home mom with two daughters, one wonderful 5 year old and one beautiful almost two year old. I have been married to Robert for nine and a half years and he loves his girls so much and doesn't mind being outnumbered at all. I do work two days a week during the school year at Highland's Young Children's World teaching the fours class. I have been a part of MOPS for over four years. And I have loved every minute of it. From the everyday need to get out of the house and see "big" people to the comfort of knowing wonderful mothers were there for me when I had a miscarriage, MOPS has been great. I have met new people and reconnected with some that I have known for years. This year I stepped out of my comfort zone and up to the role of Hospitality Coordinator. I will be taking care of the food during our meetings. I also will be planning playdates for the kiddos and Mom's Night Outs for us. Please come talk to me if you have any ideas or suggestions that might interest the other moms in our group.Email:

| Heather Ratliff (Finance) I have been married to Phillip for 5 years and we have a 2 year old daughter, Emily, and another baby due in December. I was a full-time CPA for 6 years before "retiring" to stay at home with Emily when she was born. Phillip and I have recently purchased Bogie's in Abilene. When I have free time (ha ha), I enjoy sewing, cross-stitching and baking.Email:

| Ora Morrison (Discussion Groups' Leader) I have been married to Norman for 8 years. Together we have five children. I have two step-children Brynn and Chris and at home we have Caleb 15, Seth 7 and Preston 3. This is my third year with Highland Mops. When I first became a stay at home mom I found myself lost and lonely and then I found out about MOPS.I have always said God can really kick me out of my comfort zone, cause after my first two meetings the first year I became Table Leader. Now for my third year I look forward to serving on the Steering Team as the Discussion Groups' Leader. I have found MOPS to be a place for me to laugh, cry and feel a part of motherhood in such a deep level. Motherhood is hard and messy and the most rewarding job ever. Being a part of MOPS is a great relief and the friendships that you build are endless. My deepest desire is to serve Christ in everything I do. Email:

| | | Sarah Mathis (Prayer and Care Coordinator) I've been married to my husband, Chris, for almost 9 years. We have a daughter who is almost 4, a son in heaven, and a son who was born this past December. After being a full-time high school teacher for several years, adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom was more difficult that I expected. I am so blessed to be able to stay home with my children, but often felt lonely when our daughter was small. MOPS has been such a wonderful encouragement to me and has helped me to understand that I'm not alone in this time of my life! I look forward each week to my time with other moms, and cherish the friendships that I have made. I look forward to building even more friendships this year and serving as the Prayer and Care Coordinator. During the ups and downs of life, I have been ministered to by so many women...several of them being MOPS moms. God has shown His abundant love and faithfulness to me through the care of so many. I truly look forward to serving you this way. Email:

| | | Brenda-Ann Kirschner (Publicity) I am married to Rick and we have one daughter Katie who will turn four in August. This will be my fourth year as a member of Highland MOPS. I originally joined MOPS after moving to the area in order to make new friends with moms like me. I never expected to receive constant and unconditional support and friendship as I navigate the crazy road map of motherhood. I am the Publicity Coordinator for Highland MOPS, a position that I also held last year. My responsibilities include getting the word out about our wonderful MOPS group, creating our newsletter and updating our website and blog. I’m looking forward to the 2010-2011 year of MOPS and the precious time I get to spend with the incredible moms of Highland MOPS. Email:

| | | Darlyn Luthy (MOPPETS Coordinator) I have always held a special place in my heart for children. I have worked with children professionally on and off for the better part of 12 years. My husband, Clay, and I grew up in California and moved to Abilene with the Air Force. He completed his service in 2005 and we loved it so much here that we chose to make Abilene our home. I have been married for almost 6 years and have two wonderful children, Tanner age 4 and Julia age 9. I have seen the hand of God at work in my life in many ways. The most difficult time in my life was being widowed at age 23 with a very young little girl to care for. The Lord showed me how trusting in Him and leaning on Him can provide us with comfort through the most impossible of circumstances and allow us to find great joy in waiting to see what He has planned for us. He picked up the pieces of our broken family and provided me with a wonderful new husband and father for Julia and He gave Clay and I a precious new gift of life through the birth of our son, Tanner. I am so excited to have this new opportunity as the Moppets Coordinator and I can't wait to love on all of your sweet babies! They truly do brighten up my world! I look forward to getting to know the mommies behind the babies and to the new journey that the Lord has set out for me!Email:
